ABOUT

THE ADVISOR

Brent Lankford

Some advisors are drawn to finance by the markets. Brent Lankford together with his father, were drawn to it by people.

For over two decades, they have helped families across Texas answer the question that keeps them up at night: Will our money last? That question — simple on its surface, profound in its stakes — has been the compass for everything he has built at Mid-America Estate and Insurance Services LLC.

But to understand why they do this work the way they do, you have to go back further than their career. You have to go back to the family they came from.

WHERE HE COMES FROM

A Family That Worked

For Everything It Had.

Brent didn't grow up around wealth. On his father's side, his grandfather worked the refineries in Pasadena, Texas. On his mother's side, it was truck drivers out of Dallas. These were people who showed up, put in the work, and built what they could — with no safety net and no one handing them anything.

That background never left him. It's why he bristles at the arrogance he's witnessed in the financial industry — the dismissive culture that treats everyday Americans as people to be managed rather than people to be served. As far as Brent is concerned, those families deserve the same honest advice, the same rigorous planning, and the same dignity that any client receives. No less.

He grew up in The Woodlands, Texas, spending most of his childhood exactly the way a kid of his generation should: outdoors. Riding motorcycles in the creeks, skateboarding, building forts in the woods, fishing with his dad. It was the kind of childhood that teaches you how to be present, how to make the most of where you are, and how to enjoy the people you're with.

He carried those instincts into his adult life — and eventually, into his practice.

THE INFLUENCE

His Father’s Example.

Brent's father has been both a personal and professional touchstone throughout his life. A fellow advisor, his dad modeled not just what the work looked like, but what the work was for — helping real families make sense of their finances with honesty and care.

The two have traveled together, fished together, and talked through the craft of advising in the way only people who share both a family and a profession can. That relationship runs through the DNA of Mid-America Estate and Insurance Services LLC — a practice that has always believed the best financial planning is, at its core, an act of service.

Brent's father also passed on something less tangible but equally important: the lesson that a loving, close-knit family isn't just a personal blessing — it's a standard to uphold. That standard shows up in the way Brent runs his practice, the way he treats his clients, and the way he thinks about the families who trust him with their retirement.

My goals, my plans for this company — it’s all about my family and how it will

affect them. They’re always part of the picture.

THE MAN TODAY

Husband. Father. Empty Nester in Progress.

Brent has been married for nearly 25 years to his wife — still, without hesitation, the love of his life. Together they raised a family that is now, one by one, heading off to college. His son Burke is at Texas Tech. The girls are off at school. The house is quieter.

He'll tell you it's an adjustment — more for his wife, who built her days around the kids, than for him, who's been heads-down in work. But they're navigating the empty-nester phase together, rediscovering what it looks like when it's just the two of them again. More time on the lawn. Looking at new houses. Figuring out what comes next.

He's an affectionate dad by his own description — the kind who still goes for the hug even when his son is 18 and acts like he doesn't need one. Family isn't a backdrop in Brent's life. It's the point.

The Things He Loves

Ask Brent what he does with his free time and the first thing he'll tell you about is his lawn. A couple of acres of Zoysia grass that he tends with something approaching obsession — broadleaf herbicides, precise mowing schedules, a genuine pride when neighbors stop to run their hands through it. It's a small thing. But it says something about how he approaches everything: if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.

He grew up fishing with his dad — offshore in North Carolina and Cabo San Lucas, bass fishing on the rivers in the Hill Country, and with an eye toward fly fishing in a mountain stream someday soon. He and his son spent a good stretch of years riding motocross together at the track near their home, until a wrecked ankle (his) and a concussion (his son's) convinced his wife that was enough of that.

He's traveled widely — the Caribbean, Hawaii, across the US — and finds he's just as happy exploring American cities, eating good food, and visiting places with history as he is crossing the Atlantic. He plans to do more of it, now that the kids are out of the house and it's back to being just him and his wife.

WHAT HE BELIEVES

Truth Is More Than

Professional Standard.

For Dwight and Brent, truth is a core value — one with roots that go deeper than business.

They are people of faith, and the word truth carries real weight for him. Not just as a factual matter, but as a moral one. They believe you make better decisions when you know the truth. You live a better life when you're honest about what's real. And you build better retirement plans when you stop letting the financial industry's comfortable fictions do the talking.

They describe themselves as "hopelessly honest" — the kind of people who can't tell even a small fib without it weighing on him for weeks. In an industry where spin is a professional skill, that's not a liability. It's the entire foundation.

They have a deep affinity for the natural world—something they find genuinely clarifying. Brent, in particular, has always been especially fascinated by the owl: the way it moves in silence, feathers designed to muffle flight, hunting without ever announcing itself. There's a lesson in that, he thinks, about patience and precision. He's equally struck by the design of the tuna — a creature engineered by nature for pure speed, every fin and curve serving a purpose. For Brent, that kind of intentional design points somewhere. And it shapes how he thinks about building plans that are meant to last.

THE PRACTICE

Mid-America Estate and

Insurance Services LLC

Dwight and Brent Mid-America Estate and Insurance Services LLC with a clear mandate: build retirement income plans that are honest, durable, and centered on the families who depend on them.

The practice has served as many as three generations within the same client family — a fact that says more about the depth of the relationships than any credential could. When clients' children and grandchildren come back, it's not because of the rate of return on a product. It's because they trust the people behind the plan.

Brent has delivered hundreds of retirement seminars across Texas, standing in front of rooms full of people who are anxious, skeptical, and carrying a question they're almost afraid to ask: Did we save enough? Will our money last? His job — in that room and in every meeting that follows — is to answer that question with honesty and a plan that holds up.
